Start it @kbc startup Taglayer composes Antwerp hub for the Google Hash Code 2017!
Have you heard about the Google Hash Code yet? This international coding competition is a Google challenge for students and professionals world-wide. On February 23th 2017, 26.000 contestants were challenged by Google to solve a known Google problem – in under four hours’ time. This year’s assignment? Finding a solution to drastically shorten the loading time of a YouTube clip. Taglayer, one of the Start it @kbc startups, locked hands with Cronos Group and welcomed 66 software developers at their Antwerp hub.
Taglayer is a one-year-old startup that develops personalisation software that can be used on every website. With this software, Taglayer wants to provide every visitor with a unique online experience – without breaching their privacy. By analysing the interests and personality of the visitor in real-time through cross-website browsing data, the online content gets personalized. But no need to worry: Taglayer only uses anonymous profiles for saving the data. This way, the privacy of each individual is acknowledged and respected.
And the winners are…
Amongst the 66 Antwerp software developers present, Team Yoshi came forward: three students in industrial engineering at the KUL who eventually won the preliminary – and took home the coveted cup with their solution. Well-earned too, we might add! Congrats, guys!
Well, it’s not over yet! Because they just did win the preliminary – and there’s still a big finale to win. Soon, Google will announce which teams will be invited for this exciting event in Paris. Fingers crossed for Team Yoshi!
