Our New Year’s resolution? Keep on kickstarting startups, in three steps
The key to keeping your New Year’s resolutions is … cutting back on them. Out with those lengthy lists that only put more pressure on your poor (turkey-stuffed) body, and in with that one goal you really believe in and want to achieve no matter what. At least, that’s what we want to go for. At Telenet, we want to continue coaching startups to make the most of their ideas and to expand their network. We want to invest in them and establish strategic partnerships with them. 2017 is going to be a great year for startups. Here’s why.
Community: Telenet and Start It @kbc: the story continues
Start It took only three years to become the biggest incubator-slash-startup community in Belgium. The Start It team, operating from six different locations throughout the country, has already kickstarted no less than 380 startups and plans do even better in this year. How? By keeping the finger on the pulse of the startup community, by organizing more workshops and by investing even more in coaching and mentoring. And 2017 has some new initiatives in store as well. Think network events, startup trips and special training sessions. Do you have a creative or innovative idea yourself? Apply now: the first call for applications for Start it @kbc is open!
Acceleration: things we want to accomplish in 2017 … Enter imec!
Telenet is also dedicated to supporting promising scale-ups and growth start-ups in the Telecom, Media and Entertainment sector, by coaching, mentoring and funding them, and by giving them access to our business network. To make this happen, we have entered into a strategic partnership with world-leading nanoelectronics research center imec. We are proud to become a part of imec.istart and to launch the Telecom, Media & Entertainment vertical together with Barco, IMEC, Mediahuis, Medialaan as investing partners, and with MediaNet Vlaanderen and VRT Sandbox as supporting partners. We can’t wait to see what this brand-new collaboration will bring! Read all about it in the press release and apply now. The first Pitch Day takes place on February 2nd, so save the date and keep an eye out on the Start It socials (like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, …)
Sustainable Growth: committed to investing in, and working closely with, startups
Lastly, Telenet invests in promising startups and startup initiatives. This investment can take all kinds of shapes. Either we can decide to fund these up-and-coming starters, or we can actually team up by buying services from them as part of our Telenet business activities, thus sparking a long-term, structural collaboration and creating a win-win situation for both parties. In short: Telenet’ Kickstarts New Year’s resolution comes down to being there for startups, throughout their entire lifecycle, thereby creating great opportunities for both the start-ups and our company. There. What’s your plan for 2017?
